Tamko Shingle Repair: The West Palm Beach Owner’s Guide
Tamko shingle repair in West Palm Beach typically runs $285 to $640 for a standard repair of 8 to 15 shingles, and most jobs are completed the same day our crew arrives. We stock Tamko Heritage and Tamko Titan XT shingles on the truck, which means we can match most roofs without ordering parts and making you wait a second trip. Homeowners usually discover the problem after a storm: shingle granules in the gutter, a dark patch on the ceiling, or a shingle tab lying in the yard after the wind finally got the best of it.
What you’re dealing with is rarely just one shingle. In West Palm Beach, the combination of salt air, afternoon thunderstorms, and sustained UV exposure means a Tamko roof that’s 10 to 14 years old often fails in clusters, not singles. The sealant strip breaks down, the mat starts to dry out, and once water finds a path under the shingle, it travels. The repair isn’t just replacing the visible piece. It’s checking what happened underneath it.
Which Tamko Models This Applies To
Most Tamko roofs in West Palm Beach fall into two product lines: the Heritage series (laminated architectural shingles) and the older 3-tab lines that Tamko has largely phased out but still exist on homes built before 2010. If you have a Heritage roof, the shingle will measure roughly 13¼ inches wide by 39⅜ inches long, with two bonded layers that create the dimensional, shadowed look. The 3-tab shingles are flat, single-layer, and measure 36 inches long with three visible tabs.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha most homeowners don’t know: Tamko changed the nail line and adhesive strip placement on Heritage shingles several times over the past 15 years. A shingle from 2018 does not always seal correctly with a shingle from 2023, even if both say “Heritage” on the wrapper. That’s why we physically match the shingle to your roof before quoting, not just to the name on the bundle. For most West Palm Beach homes, an OEM Tamko replacement is the right call because the color match matters and Tamko’s warranty only stays intact when Tamko materials are used. Quality aftermarket equivalents exist, but on a visible roof plane, a slight color drift looks wrong from the street.
We are an independent roofing contractor and not affiliated with Tamko. That said, we install Tamko materials regularly, along with GAF, Owens Corning, and CertainTeed, and we’ll tell you plainly which product line fits your roof and your budget.

Signs Your Tamko Shingle Repair Is Failing
- Granules accumulating in gutters or at downspout elbows. Tamko shingles shed granules as the asphalt surface weathers. A thin, even dusting is normal aging. A heavy, sand-like accumulation means the shingle’s protective layer is failing and the mat underneath is exposed to Florida sun, which accelerates the rot.
- Curling or lifting shingle tabs, especially on the south and west roof faces. West Palm Beach sun beats down hardest on those exposures. When the sealant strip gives way, the tab lifts. Once lifted, wind gets under it and peels it back. This is the single most common failure we see before hurricane season.
- Dark streaks or a soft, spongy feel when walking the roof. Streaks often mean algae, which is cosmetic. Softness means the decking under the shingle has absorbed moisture. That’s not a shingle repair anymore; that’s decking, underlayment, and shingle replacement, and the price changes accordingly.
- Missing shingle tabs after a wind event. Tamko’s Heritage line carries a 110 mph wind rating when installed correctly with the right number of nails. If shingles are tearing off at 50 mph gusts, the problem is usually the original installation: overdriven nails, high nailing, or too few fasteners.
- Water stains on ceilings or walls after a heavy rain, not a hurricane. A single compromised shingle lets water in during a normal afternoon thunderstorm. By the time the stain shows indoors, the leak has usually been active for weeks. The repair needs to address the shingle, the underlayment, and the drying of any affected decking before the new shingle goes down.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
In West Palm Beach, expect to pay $285 to $420 to repair a small cluster of 5 to 8 Tamko shingles, including materials, labor, and disposal. A larger repair of 15 to 25 shingles, which is common after a storm or a long-deferred leak, runs $520 to $640. If the decking underneath has rotted, add $65 to $90 per sheet of plywood or OSB replaced, which is line-itemed on your written quote, not buried in a vague “woodwork” charge.
The price you get from us is the price on paper before any work starts. It includes the shingles, the underlayment repair, the fasteners, the sealant, the disposal of the old material, and the labor. It does not change at the door. Every Tamko repair we do carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the repair fails within one full year, we come back and fix it at no charge. In writing.
What drives the range is access. A single-story ranch with a 4/12 pitch is fast and safe. A two-story home with a 10/12 pitch, a tile accent, and a valley flashing detail takes longer and costs more. We’ll tell you which one you have and what it means for the number on the quote.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely do one thing from the ground: photograph the damage. Walk the perimeter, take clear photos of the roof area in question, and check your gutters for granules. That documentation helps you decide whether the problem is isolated or spreading.
What we don’t recommend is getting on a West Palm Beach roof in July to replace shingles yourself. Concrete tile and asphalt shingle roofs get surface temperatures above 140°F in summer. Footing gets soft, shingles tear under your boots, and the fall risk is real. Beyond that, a shingle repair done wrong, with the wrong nail count, wrong placement, or no attention to the underlayment, buys you a bigger repair in six months. Travis Oakley, our owner, has spent nearly three decades on roofs in real weather, and he’ll tell you the same thing he tells his own crew: the roof tells you what it needs, but only if you know what to look for.
If you’re not sure what you’re looking at, call us at (728) 203-3066. We’ll come out, assess the damage, and put a written price in your hand. No work starts until you’ve read that number.
FAQs
Tamko Heritage shingles carry a 30-year limited warranty in most cases, but in West Palm Beach’s climate, the realistic service life is 18 to 24 years. Salt air, intense UV, and storm-driven rain age the shingle faster than the warranty anticipates. We replace failing shingles at the 12- to 15-year mark on many homes.
A single damaged or missing shingle can usually be repaired when the surrounding shingles are still sound and the decking is dry. If the damage covers more than 25% of a roof plane, or if the sealant strips are failing across the whole roof, repair becomes a temporary fix and replacement is the honest recommendation. Call (728) 203-3066 for an exact assessment and a written quote.
Most Tamko shingle repairs in West Palm Beach take 2 to 4 hours on site, from setup to cleanup. Larger repairs involving decking replacement can run a full day. We’ll give you a clear timeline on the written estimate before any work begins.
Yes. We keep Tamko Heritage and Tamko Titan XT shingles on the truck in common West Palm Beach colors, along with matching ridge caps, starter strips, and sealant. If your roof needs a less common color or an older discontinued line, we source it same-week through our supplier network and keep you posted on the timing.
